Governing Body

The Governing Body of Bushmead Primary School meets as a Full Governing Body and in committees with delegated powers to deliver the three core strategic functions of governors:

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils and the performance management of staff
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

The Full Governing Body meets termly, as does the Finance and Personnel Committee and the Site, Health and Safety committee.  Individual governors also have specific responsibilities connected to the work of the Governing Body.

The Governors have agreed the vision and ethos of the school and set clear and ambitious strategic priorities and targets.  The Governors work within the framework of the Local Education Authority to ensure that all children, including those with special educational needs, have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.  Governors regularly visit the school to monitor key aspects of the school’s development and provide support and challenge to the school leadership.
